The Different Types of Renewable Power Starting with solar
Solar or Solar Photovoltaic commonly shortned to SPV is probably the most well know of renewable technologies. Homes and businesses across the world are being decorated with panels to help reduce the impact we have on our environment. But what do you really now about this techmnology?
The technology itself was discovered all the way back in 1839 but it was another 100 years before the first commercially viable solar panel was used - and its design is still used in many of the modern panels today.
SPV converts the sunlight into DC electricity through solar cells. The generated electricity can then be used directly during the day or may be stored in the batteries for use during night hours or exported back to the grid.
There are many advantages of solar - no noise, easy to install, pollution free, low maintenance and a long shelf life make it a silent winner soaking uop the suns rays once installed. Of course there are disadvantages too, technology has improved so you no longer need full sun to generate energy but there are still limitations on what your panels can do on a grey overcast day. Then there are environmental factors to consider such as roof angles and strengths, directions as well as gaining local permissions if you wish to start a ground array.
For those ventuering into the renewable world solar is usually the first step. If your not sure what your site or business needs dont forget to get in touch as we are happy to offer advice and answer any questions you may have.
